Adelaide Treatment For Shin Pain And Shin Splints

With decades of podiatry expertise, our trusted Adelaide podiatrists have diagnosed and treated shin pain and shin splints for thousands of patients—and stand ready to help you on your own journey to reduced pain.

Our skilled team addresses the symptoms you’re experiencing as well as the underlying causes. After all, there’s little point in treating immediate pain if it’s only going to resurface again and again.

A more holistic approach requires treating the actual cause of your shin pain for long-term health benefits.

At Rose Park Podiatry, we pride ourselves on just that—a proactive, preventative approach to foot and lower limb health—and it’s why we take steps to miminise your risks of recurring, heightened shin pain.

What’s the difference between shin pain and a shin splint?

‘Shin pain’ or ‘shin splints’ are largely general terms referring to any type of pain a person might associate with pain emanating from their shin or lower leg area. It can have various causes, and is generally characterised by swelling, inflammation, or tenderness along the shin bone or calf muscles.

When people talk about shin splints, they often refer to pain in the lower third of the inner aspect of the tibia (shinbone). This can be due to inflammation of the muscle, tendon, or tissue around the tibia or in some severe cases, even small stress fractures in the bone itself. It is also known as medial tibial stress syndrome.

What can cause or otherwise contribute to shin pain or shin splints?
